GVL (Gesellschaft zur Verwertung von Leistungsschutzrechten)
Germany
GVL is the German neighboring rights society, responsible for managing the rights of performing artists and producers of sound recordings. When recorded music is broadcast or publicly performed, GVL collects remuneration on behalf of these rights holders. It operates as the counterpart to GEMA, which represents songwriters and publishers. Together, they ensure that all key contributors to a musical recording—both the authors of the composition and the performers/producers of the recording—are compensated for the use of their work in Germany.
