ECAD (Escritório Central de Arrecadação e Distribuição)

Brazil

ECAD is not a society itself, but the central private entity responsible for the collection and distribution of all public performance royalties in Brazil. It is jointly managed by the seven Brazilian music societies (including UBC and ABRAMUS). ECAD licenses music users nationwide, collects the fees, and then allocates the funds to the societies, which in turn pay their respective members. This centralized system is unique to Brazil and is fundamental to its music rights management.
